He ain't all that...
"The devil's busy"
If I'm honest with myself, I know I've said this phrase multiple times in my life. While there were certainly tough times I had to walk through and I was probably legitimately being attacked by the enemy... Majority of the times I was just using this phrase recklessly.
"The devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour”
There's no doubt that the devil is 100% after Christians. John 10:10 states that "He comes to steal, kill and destroy". We see many biblical examples of this truth. He wants to stop the spreading of the Gospel, He wants to tear apart the church, He wants to tear apart families, etc.
We blame so many things on the devil. Truth be told, I believe we can get ourselves into enough trouble on our own without any influence of the devil. We make him out to be BIGGER and BADDER than he really is. I'm convinced that when we get to heaven we'll see that little trickster devil standing off to the side upset. I think we'll be shocked that He isn't really that Big, Bad, Scary red creature with horns and a pitchfork. I imagine we'll say things like 'That's it?' or 'That's all I was fighting against?'.
Think About It
“The devil starts out as a serpent in Genesis and ends as a dragon in Revelation. Who's been feeding him?”
The other day I was on the phone with someone as they were getting pulled over by the police. Their initial response was 'Pastor Josh please pray for me because the devil is busy'. I stopped for a moment and processed the statement before asking 'How fast were you going?'. They replied '65 in a 45'. So before I hung up the phone, I concluded the conversation by saying 'The devil had nothing to do with that, slow down!'.
Don't Give The Devil Too Much Credit
