Social Media Isn't All Evil

Updated: Sep 28, 2019

Contrary to popular belief...

Social Media Isn't All Evil

There's a common belief that social media is bad. That it can ruin marriages, tempt believers, distract us and steal our time. And I agree, social media can do those things, but so can drugs, alcohol, poor communication, misplaced priorities, etc. Social Media can definitely do some harm. We spend too much time on it, and can often find ourselves comparing our lives to other people's highlight reels. We've got to understand that people will normally only post their WINS... Their luxury purchases, fancy vacations, happy family moments, and the list goes on. Most people aren't posting their arguments, low moments, failures or mistakes. So it's important to understand that. BUT

What if social media can be used for the kingdom of God. Imagine what would happen if we used our 140 characters on Twitter to post scripture? What would happen if we traded our selfies on Instagram for Godly encouragement? What would happen if instead of posting foolish videos to Youtube, we created vlogs about our life and how we live for Jesus?

“Social Media can be used for the glory of God”

Churches all across the world are taking advantage of social media and using it to spread the Gospel. Statistics are showing that hundreds of thousands of people are converting to Christianity via online live streams and videos. It's truly amazing! We're seeing a revival that wouldn't of been possible without social media. Friends are sharing Godly posts and inviting people to watch church services online. People all across the world are watching and hearing the Gospel on a daily basis.

Genesis 50:20 "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives"

While social media is constantly being used to spread negativity, let's be the light in the darkness in the cyber world. You never know who will see your online presence and be transformed by the Spirit of God.
